Donald's Story

I am finally getting around to officially entering Classmates, after years on the fringe of all social networks. I guess that is because age brings back the fondest of life's memories, especially those wonderful 4 years at KHS of our class of 1948, the greatest group of them all....I am anxious to communicate personally with each of you, refreshing our memories of each other I guess I have been sort of "one of the world travelers" in our group with studies at Lawrence, Harvard, Universities of Colorado and Northern Colorado, University of Copenhagen, among others AND work in several High Schools and Universities in the USA before launching a life as an Educational consultant ,mainly in Latin America. First it was with programs of the University of Indiana and USAID in Costa and El Salvador (in the war years) and finally with the organization of my goal, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO, based mainly in Santiago, Chile. I spent 18 years at this Regional Office, working in all of the Latin American and Caribbean countries on the opening of rather rigi...Expand for more
d educational systems, especially at the primary level. It certainly was great fun getting to know so many wonderful teachers, struggling with so few resounds with so many children. It made me realize what a wonderful education we all had in good old KHS. Everywhere I went I told ten of the wonders of the Fox River and a little town with a name that sounds like a crow cackling. I guess it only then that I realized how lucky we have all been growing up in a place like Kaukauna. While living in Chile I married Lucia (some may have seen her at the 50th) and we have been spending our lives between the two cultures, following the sun in the two hemispheres between Chile and our little apartment here in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Reading t his over it sounds like I'm someone important. Let me assure you that I'm the same person you all made so proud when you elected me your Senior Class President way back in 1948. I would love to hear about your years between now and then. Health permitting, I am planning on attending the 70th next year..Hope we can find a time when we can all come together.
