Don & Cheryl's Story
Military (post high school):
Don was in the Navy 18 months when he met Cheryl Faircloth while stationed in Key West FL. Married, six months later, we shipped out to Hawaii where we spent the next four years while Don road a submarine out of Guam seven months a year and Cheryl stayed in Hawaii and bore our first child, Paul. The last year of of military service were spent in Groton, Connecticut. Two of our five children, Paul and John, were born while in the military. Don left the Navy as an E6 (First Class Petty Officer) Sonar Technician. Cheryl left our service years as a mother of our two children with three more to come (Rebekah, Deborah and Sarah). Together we moved to the western suburbs of Chicago.
Family and Work:
We started a family business and spent the next twenty seven years raising our five children and working together in Carpet Master Clean-Care Systems, Inc. out of Maywood, IL. Cheryl ran the office and answered the phone, often times with a newborn in here arms, while Don did most of the labor type work.

our children worked in the business with us as they grew up and made it a great success. All of them moved on to other things as they got married or went to college. A couple years after the last one left home we sold the business and the home and went on the road as full-time RVers. We always make sure to stop in to checkup on our, so far, fourteen grandchildren.
Retierement (?) (Loosely defined):
We have been traveling full-time in our RV since October 2003. Cheryl and I still work together from time-to-time in RV parks. Cheryl has been activities director a couple times and I have have worked as head of maintenance and have run a beach-house cafe. We love the change in lifestyle and found the new perspectives gained from the shift in living have been profitable, educational and filled with joy.
We would love to meet up with old friends along the way. Perhaps we can meet up with you when we are in the neighborhood....keep in mind, As RVers our 'neighborhood' is now North America, so let us know where you are and who knows.......
