Donna's Story
Life
I met my husband, Steve during the first semester of
my freshman year while attending
Mary-Hardin Baylor College in Belton,
Texas. After dating for a year, we became engaged. We were married in 1971 after I completed my sophomore year in college.
We have been married for over 40 years. We love to travel so we usually go somewhere every year. We have been on several cruises, and we love to bring back treasures from different places. We have always resided in Fort Worth, Texas where I received a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Master of Science Degree in Education from Texas Wesleyan University. We have two sons and one grandson.
My Job
Presently, I am an Elementary ESL Curriculum Specialist for the Fort Worth Independent School District.I am responsible for providing ESL services and support for 20 elementary schools. ndividual coaching (teaching tips), and training for teachers on research-based teaching strategies. I have also taught ESL classes in the district. I love working with and teaching children, I feel like I am in my zone when I am in a classroom.
After receiving my Bachelor's Degree, I also worked for the Texas Agricultural Extension service in the 4-H Office and the First Texas Council of Camp Fire.
I love antiques, and I am an avid collector. I collect elephants, cookie jars, nesting toys, and African American and Native American dolls. You'd probably think my house is really cluttered, but it isn't. Everything is well organized. I also enjoy spending time with friends and family. I love to cook for everybody because I am a wonderful cook, and everyone enjoys my cooking.
If I could improve my home, I'd remodel the bathroom and add on a bigger closet. My dream home would be in a place where I could see the mountains everyday..
Life is too short to sweat the small stuff. Pick your battles.
