Donna's Story
Well relly don't know where to start. I have 3 children, Rick, Jason and Stephanie. Rick the oldest (36)is married and has a daughter, Larissa 15 & a son Brady (10)his wife Kristi of 17 yrs. (WOW does that make me feel old). They live in Coatesville. Then Jason (33) lives in Concord NC with his fiancee Dawn, & her daughter Mariah. And then my daughter, Stephanie (30) & her husband live in Anderson. In July of last year they were hit by a 22 yr old drunk driver who had no insurance and was driving without a license. Stephanie had to be cut out of their truck and I didn't know if she would ever walk again, but she like the rest of us, is a fighter and she is walking. Very painful but she is doing very well all things considered (injury wise). She was living in my living room in a hospital bed for about 2 1/2 months, then 2 weeks before she went to their home in Anderson, I moved my 80yr old mother and stepdad in with me. I have been a nurse for 32yrs. I have been a DON in a nursing home for 10 1/2 yrs, worked a short time in Lebanon hospital, after my brothers and dad died I went to work for 13 1/2 yrs at the Indiana Boys School (left there only because the govenor did away with our jobs & the facility, it's now...Expand for more
a re-entry program for adult males), right before it closed I lost my best friend (& ex-husband, Rick). I truly was lost for about 3 yrs. I took my annuity and didn't work for almost 7 months, traveled to Vegas with all of my children and their significant others for a week, went to see Jason 2 times, and enjoyed having some time to myself (since I had never known anything but work 16 hrs a day) Then reality kicked in and I knew I had to go back to work (I had built a new house just months before boys school closed) I lost my best friend Janne and really thought about just giving up and letting everything go but I have a friend who told me that I had worked so hard to obtain what I had and I needed to reevaluate my life and so after many attempts this past year at different jobs I am now a Director of Assisted Living in a very ritzy part of Carmel and love it! Life gives us all lots of twists and turns & you just can't give up. You fight & most of the time you will win, at least a little. I can't believe that almost 37 yrs. has passed since we were in school together. I think joining this site has been the best thing I have done in a long time. I would love to hear from all of you. God Bless each & every one of you
