After Loretto, I attended Northwestern University and DePaul University Law School. Over the years I have worked as an Assistant Corporation Counsel where my duties included prosecuting consumer fraud, fly-dumping, nursing home violators and handling tort (personal injury) cases. I was an Assistant Public Defender at juvenile court, an Assistant General Attorney with the Chicago Park District and a Staff Attorney with the Illinois Workers Compensation Commission.
I am a member of the Judge Advocate General's Corps (Army Lawyer) in the Illinois Army National Guard and hold the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. I am the first African- American JAG in the...Expand for more
Illinois Army National Guard and was the first Illinois JAG to be deployed to Iraq.
After 26 years of practicing law, I ran for Cook County Circuit Court Judge - 1st Subcircuit (Turkington Vacancy), as a democrat and won the primary election in February. I must go through the general election in November, but as I have no opponent, I will be sworn in on December 1, 2008, God Willing.
God Blessed me with the Judgeship and I was sworn in on December 1, 2008. After a short stint in Traffic Court, I was transferred to Juvenile Court in April 2009 where I am presently sitting.
I retired from the IL Army National Guard in May 2013 with the rank of Colonel.
