Donna's Story
Life
Since I left High School I have lived in Texas for a very short time before my first husband re-enlisted in the Air Force moving us to San Bernadino, California where my daughter was born. From there we went to Airway Heights, WA. for a year and a half. Sumner was our next stop which is where my son was born. We bought a home in Tacoma, WA. which was closer to the Air Base. We were x-fered to Atwater, California in 1979.
While we were stationed in Atwater which was right nest door to Merced I attended Beauty Collage and got my California liscense.
We had held onto our home in Tacoma which was a good thing as in 1983 I left my husband and moved back to WA.
After being single for 5 years raising two children I found my current husband. I was working as a security guard at what was then Puget Sound Bank Operation Center. Tim and I married two years after we met.
In 1993 I lost my son, he was 19. That took the wind out of all our sails for quite some time. A year later we put my house on the market and moved to Belfair, WA. where we owned and opperated a gutter business for 9 1/2 years.
In 2003 due to a back injury we decided it best to sell the business and get into something a wee bit easier on the old man..ha ha
He then got a call from his younger brother to move to Wisconsin to be a Production Supervisor for a wood stake plant. From there ...Expand for more
the Owner of Northland Products moved the plant to Finley, North Dakota where we now reside.
It is a challenage in the winter with temps going as low as -35 / -40 and in the summer gets as high as 98 - 110 with a humidity factor that don't quit. But it is a pretty state and where we are it is a very small quaint little town. Mostly farmland.
I also work at Northland Products. We have a fire log division which is where I work now. Before I was running chop saws, rip saws, and pointer machines. It is a bit hard on the ole body but you know you have put in a good honest days work at the end of the day.
Working on the fire logs side of the business we take the sawdust from our steaks, lathe and hubs put it through a dryer system send it through a log machine which compacts it into logs we then package the logs and get them ready for shipment.
My Daughter had a baby girl in 1996. She is the love of our life. They live in WA. still and we miss them terribly. We fly our granddaughter here every summer for 3-5 weeks or however long we can get away with... ha ha ..
In May of 2009 my daughter had another girl. She is just as precious as the first one and boy did North Dakota suddenly seem like worlds away. So we sold our home and are back on the west coast. We landed in Oregon which is a lot closer than North Dakota. Livin in a 5th whell and Loving life...
