The Student That Passed Out On Stage During the 9th. Grand Easter Choir Concert 1963 I was just a short, quiet,and unknown ninth grader at J. B Hood in 1963. Was in one school play; I might have had 4 lines in the entire play.However, I am sure many might remember that Choir member that fainted on stage at the Easter Concert in 1963. It was a hot and humid day and our "uniform dress" was black wool skirt/slacks and white blouse/dress shirt. The concert was long and the blue lights were hot. Miss Bowen , the Choir teacher; warned us that blue lights were hypnotic and can cause one to faint. We all were prepared to sing our best and not to faint; and if one of us felt dizzy, we were to step off stage..quietly.She told us in "jest ", that if anyone fainted on stage, she would fail that person. I stood on the front roll, on the stage, in the Soprano section. During the performance, the stage was getting hotter and hotter as the concert continued. Several members managed to be able to step down from the bleachers without incident. The last song was the Lords Prayer. I began to see dots before my eyes I began to feel dizzy. I felt that I could finish the song, I tried to lean up against the member next to me..she gave me a nudge to stand up straight...and over I fell in slow motion. I could see teachers jumping onto the stage to help me, and could hear all the screams from students and teachers as I was passing out.
