Donna Marie's Story

I still live in New Milford! Seems like I can't shake the dust of off old digs. However, I do explore because I have famalia all over the darn US of A! Now I know some of you are looking at my last name...that will eventually change back to my maiden name I am in the process of my 2nd divorce...don't look at it as a tragedy it became a blessing and a lesson well learned. I had 17 years of the first marriage and the 2nd one only lasted 3. I commute to work 1 hour every day because that is where its at. New Milford does not offer anything worth going to its retail or its KC. Tried KC that did not work out. Tried retail and that simply does not pay! I work for a British company called Filofax. We are also US distributors for Letts of London, Yard'O'Led (British), Lamy(German), and Caran d'Ache (Swiss). I still have my hobbies reading, journaling and sometimes beading ...haven't done beading in a while though. I also have a hobby of collecting semi precious stones and interesting rocks. I also do tarot card readings and dable in paranormal stuff...its been in my blood and passed down. From my first marriage I have one daughter, Jennifer, who is going to school to study as sous chef. She will be graduating next spring with two majors: Hospitality and Hospitality Management. I'm very proud of her. She has made the deans list a few times. She and her boyfriend lives with me and helps me out. What I do for fun, is I like to go out and karoake, take day trips to places that I haven't been to. I have traveld some but finances always held me back. My biggest adventure was going to San Diego to visit friends there. I fell in love with San Diego. I've been to Florida, but San Diego's weather is the tops! Ocean Beach is where I stayed and I was shown all over the place from Balboa Park to Mt Palmer where the huge telescope is. I love museums, and there is a special place that Jen and I go to up in Massachusettes in the middle of winter to get some summertime in. If you ever go to South Deerfield 5 miles past the Yankee Candle outlet is a place called Magic Wings. Its a place that is forever summer that has live butterflies from all over the world. n animal lover and very much a dog person. After I kicked my 2nd husband out of the house, a week later I got a dog from the animal welfare society. Yes there was a method to my madness....I didn't want to become bitter. I got a male dog (mutt) named Gridley. He has a beautiful coat of brindle. He became a great companion and a very good listner. A few months ago my daughter's boyfriend bought a female Siberian Husky puppy and named her Aurora. The puppy is now 5 months old. If anybody knows about Siberians they are the goats and ADDS of the dog world. Both dogs are getting along...however, I keep telling the puppy that I am going to sell her to the gypsies. She loves to get into mischief. Being she is my daughter's dog (she always teased me that she will not have children only puppies) that makes her my grand dogger. Gridley is Uncle to her......go figure....Jen has a hairy brother. I also got involved with the Relay for Life with the American Cancer Society. Cancer is very prevelent in my family and my sister-in-law Barbara Hallecks is a survivor for about 17 years now. However my mom unfortuantely did not survive. She had a very agressive cancer in the brain and passed away April 5th, 1999. 3 Aunts and 1 uncle have passed with cancer, 1 uncle and I have two cousins who are in remission. I recently finished reading a book called "The Last Lecture" Its a true story about a professor who is dying of pancreatic cancer. Its by Randy Pauche. You can also go to his web site that bears the same name and watch this amazing person who has some words and advise that will touch you. I joined weight watchers recently and decided to keep mini goals insight but look at the big picture....a better healthy life....! So what life has been a bumpy road...who says it was going to be smoothe in the first place. Like in that annimated movie "Meet the Robinsons"....KEEP MOVING FORWARD! So my friends. I will be looking forward in those who get together at the Cookhouse....maybe persuade some to join me afterwards for a little karaoke on a dare....ah come on now don't be shy....perfection isn't the key its the trying that counts. The best to all ! Donna
