Donna's Story
After graduating from NBF in 1973, I attended Valdosta State College where a BS in Elem. Ed. was obtained. I began teaching in Jacksonville in March 1977 at the elementary school I attended, Oak Hill Elem. During the next 35 years, I taught each of grades 1-5 at Oak Hill, Stonewall Jackson, Normandy, and Ramona Blvd., obtained my master's degree in Ed. Leadership, worked in Profess...Expand for more
ional Development, and was coordinator of the district's "Transition to Teaching" program. I got married at 29 to Richard Stokes, have a beautiful, wonderful step-daughter (she's married with 3 terrific children), and an awesome, smart son (he's married with 2 terrific children), and I retired from DCPS in 2012. We built a house and moved to Blairsville, Georgia in November 2020.
