Donna's Story
September 2008
My girls are 10, 8, and 5 1/2, and all are in school all day so I'm all alone. I thought I would get more done with them all gone, as with most things in life it hasnt turned out that way. We recently started attending a local church and it has been just what the girls and I needed. It is small of course, but they have found many friends and are loving all the kids activities. I was the co-coordinator for VBS, which was an honor and very fun. We have finally found a fun 4H group, and are breeding borders collies for Tom's sister. We kept a chocolate girl from our last litter and are starting to show her.
Tom is still a "commuting farmer", working our land in Macomb and our organic land up here. We purchased another 200 acres north of our current acreage and just found some or...Expand for more
ganic land to rent. He gave us a scare in March 2007 when he was disassembling a barn in Marlette, he fell through the roof 20' onto a cement floor. He was air lifted to a Trauma Center, where they said he is an outright miracle to not have any major injuries. We were very very blessed.
I am constantly working on decorating this house, trying to get that "primitive country" look that I love, but that also requires finding some items that take time. I try to scrapbook, sew, quilt, design, paint, etc....everyday. For fun I started selling creations on Ebay and Etsy, anything from scrapbook pages, to doll clothes, etc. I still do bookkeeping & payroll for our businesses. My friends and I try to carpool to go shopping, at somewhere other than Walmart, which is just about the only thing we have.
