Donna's Story

I always wanted to be a nurse when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a good idea. As it turns out, they were surprised. I love Antique Shopping. I have been in Shops from Pennsylvania to New Zealand. Other than Antique shopping, I love spending time with my grand-children-when I have them, I drop everything and do what they want to do. Also, I have a friend who is a photographer, and I could browse his photos forever (he has many) I have a hero-it is the Lord and he has been there for me so many times-especially in the last three years, when things have been tough. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Geneva Bailey, because she and I were best friends from 1st grade. I visited here a couple times and seen her at my brother's funeral, but need to visit more often.. I am a big football person-I watch all WVU games, and support Marshall because that is where my son attended school. I love watching my grand-daughter in Karate tournaments and in the band at ball-games. I don't have trophies on my mantel, but hundreds of them in boxes and crates-all belonging to my kids as they grew up-they were involved in every thing you can imagine, and done well. I plan to eventually remove the name and event plaques, and donate the trophies. My kids are not sentimental like I am, but then again-I don't think I was until I got older. My first job was at Workers' Compensation, where I got paid $2.49 an hour to work on the very first microfiche machine they acquired.. What I remember most about it is how interesting it was. I stayed there for almost 28 years and worked in every aspect of the fund. I met so many interesting people and worked with elected officials, and set up modified return-to-work programs in businesses-I never done a job there that I didn't enjoy. I did make much more than $2.49 an hour when I retired in 2003.. I am proud of my accomplishments-having three children, Misti, my oldest is an RN, Tracey, my second is a MedSurge Tech, and going to school to be an RN, and David, my youngest (who is 28 today) is...Expand for more
a Web designer and works at a Charleston bank. They have had there moments, but they turned out to be really great kids-not to mention they are now my "friends" as well. I worked hard all my life, but am proud of my job accomplishments. I have two beautiful grand-daughters that I love more than life itself. My family has been through tough times -my brother died Christmas Day 2005, my mother has had several heart attacks and we have came so close to losing her. My youngest sister just recenty finished radiation and chemo for breast cancer. I went through a tough divorce in May, but life goes on. I do have a medical problem with my pancreas, and will be going to Cleveland Clinic in the near future, but I am sure God will be with me-just as he has through all the other tough times. In 10 years, I hope to be still able to get around-I try to stay healthy-physically and mentally. I'm going to get there by taking one day at a time and reducing the stress in my life-after all-there are so many people who have a lot more on their plate than I do. I hope to keep my faith in the Lord and be a better servant to him. After all, he has done everything for me. I would love to travel more-even though I have traveled extensively. Life is too short, and we will never have enough time, but we can make the best of what we have.. So much has changed since my original post-I am now married to my childhood sweetheart Jerry Suttle. We lived in Texas until he retired from Lockheed Martin in 2018 and then moved to Tennessee. My grand daughters have grown-one is a nurse, the other is in High school. My son lives in Tennessee and has two stepchildren and works for the school board, My profile picture is my mom and will never change-she has passed away and I have lost five siblings since my original post. I have seen Geneva Bailey and often my sister friend Peggy Davis Holdren many times in WV. Jerry and I spend many days in our boat at the lakes where we love to fish. We have traveled and hope to go to Alaska next year. He is my rock and not on my husband but my best friend.

It’s 2 degrees here this morning-52 degrees in my sewing room upstairs-wind gusts still blowing in the 30’s. Hopefully the power will be restored soon.
