Donna's Story

Life A life bio is impossible. There are toooooo many things I've done in my life, and no "bio" is big enough to hold all of them. Nevertheless, I'll put in just a few of the things I've done, places I've been, and impacting events. Will that do? Born and raised in Wellsville, Utah (you guys from Sky View know this), but moved from Utah--had to follow the family--when I was 13 and landed in Richland Center, Wisconsin where I (still with the family here) stayed for my sophomore year and then--following the family again--ended up in Waverly, Iowa where I graduated. Played around all summer and then headed to Provo, Utah to play at being a freshman at BYU. About a year later I--once again--followed the family and ended up in Jacksonville, Illinois where I lived, married, and started a family. The ensuing years brought tremendous changes including some more college, divorce, building a successful business, watching it burn down, losing everything (including the marriage), ending up on welfare then returning to Utah and starting over. After that I started my own business again (different genré) and remarried. Career changes in my husband's job brought us to Idaho Falls, Idaho where I made half-hearted attemp...Expand for more
ts to start my own business again. When the school district cut the French and 3-D art my husband came up here for, I took what I thought would be a temporary occupation. Turns out I was good at it, and it was very lucrative, but it entailed enormous amounts of travel and three years away from my family except for a week every month or so. With a teenage son in football, and a daughter in drama, I was needed at home so I took a $4500/mo cut in pay and, by agreeing to help a friend in his business for 10 hours a week, I ended up managing it and now -- three years later -- I may be buying it. We'll see. As for my personal interests and focus, I've been composing my own arrangements to my favorite songs for years, and then finally began composing songs. I hope to have a Christmas song out by 2007 (update, 2009). I also do desktop publishing, small business consulting and, for fun, I write. I've ghost-written several biographies and a fiction piece and I have a published poem. Update: Thanks to a date (or two) with Doug Folkers in Waverly, I ride every chance I get. Lost one bike in a fire, but now have a V-Star and lovin' it. My life is always in flux and I certainly hope the best is yet to be written.

While not teach them now, when we have time, and their attention?
Thirty-four years ago, on new year's eve, a handsome man gave me a late Christmas present, something I had asked for but thought I wasn't getting--a thread board.

But this thread board was special. It wasn't filled with

Our friend and neighbor, Gerald (Pete) Peterson, has this on the back of his funeral program. What a wonderful tribute.

I wrote the post below last year. I just wanted to add this:

You all know who you are. I'm so grateful that you came home. I'm also grateful for the service of those who passed while in service, and those who passed aft
