Donna's Story
Life
My Spouse
I met my husband at a Job's Daughter's Installation in Lodi. We dated for about 3 years (managing a long distance relationship while he attended OSU and I attended San Jose State). We got married in August 1975.
My Pets
We have a cat named Phydeaux (pronounced FIDO). My husband agreed to a dog...but my daughters and I wanted a cat...so we compromised...we got a cat and gave him a dog name...with a feline spelling. --- Epilogue--- Our kitty Phydeaux recently died after giving us 16 beautiful years. We miss him so much, but he just cannot be replaced!!
My Kids
My oldest daughter (Katie) graduated in 2001 from University of Oregon. My youngest (Lori) graduated from Portland State (2006).
My Job
I recently retired (Oct 2005)from 25 years working in the Supply Chain of Hewlett Packard. (Life is good).
Travel
My husband and I love to travel. For our 25th Anniversary we went to Spain and London. In May of 2002 we visited the Grand Caymans (possibly one of the most beautiful and peaceful places on Earth). We've also taken the family to Cancun (2003).
On our 30th anniversary we took a trip to the Cayman Islands (we managed to miss Hurricane Wilma). It was my transition time from retiring from HP. We spent a beautiful 2 1/2 weeks on the islands. Then came home and turned around to spend a week in Florida with our family (our 2 daughters and my cousin Jim Bennett and his wife and daughter). We had a blast!! We will definately do this again!!!
Part of my husband's transition was to bui...Expand for more
ld a 1965 Cobra Replica (kit car). We just drove it cross-country (from Oregon to Massachusetts and down to Tennessee then back through Ohio, Indiana and home again. We managed to put approx 8900 miles on the car. It was one heck of a drive that took 6 weeks!! We visited family and friends along the way and saw alot of the U.S.that we hadn't seen before together. We also experienced alot of "weather" since this little car has no roof on it!! Fun times!!
School
While I was in high school, I was a member of Job's Daughter's (served as Honored Queen in 1970) and also a member of Rainbow for Girls. The experience was a real joy and it allowed me to work with the community as well as learn to work with adults. It also gave me confidence to speak in front of large groups which is something that I will forever be grateful for.
I attended Delta and graduated with my Associate of Arts in Business then later transferred to San Jose State Univ majoring in Advertising.
College
At San Jose State, I had a great roomie, Allison. She and I clicked immediately. Oddly enough, one of the girls who lived across the hall from me in the dorm was a gal I had known from my Job's and Rainbow days, Linda....and so I had an instant "old" friend. Another blessing was my friend Sylvia, who was from Stockton. She was my ride home on the occassions when I wanted to go back to Lodi on visits (as I didn't have a car while I was living in San Jose). The second year...Sylvia, Allison and I all moved from the dorm to an apartment.
