Donnie's Story

Life After high school I went to Auburn then FSU and back to Auburn. I ended up getting two degrees in mechanical engineering and moving to Houston Texas to work for Compaq Computer Corporation. I left Compaq for Stress Engineering Services (SES) and then went on to built a startup automation business with a partner. Sold out of the startup and went back to SES. During college I got married (23 years ago now!) and have 2 children, one in high school now! My wife is an FSU graduate in finance. My career has been mainly associated with mechical engineering in some form. I've been involved with physical based simulations using finite element analysis as well as developing lump parameter models. These days, I'm mostly involved with large (10 million pounds loads) complex load frames acting as a mechatronics ...Expand for more
engineer handling the project management, instrumentation, software, and control system implementation. I ocassionaly get back to simulations and really enjoy those types of projects. Along the way I've branched into biomedical projects as well. I've worked with the Biomedical Engineering Society over the past several years and served on the board of directors last year. It's been fun. I'm currently working with Texas Children's Hospital on a multi-year project to solve vibration problems with neonatal ambulatory transport in ground, fixed wing aircraft and helicopters. I get to spend a fair amount of time in and around the largest hospital complex in the world. It's a lot of fun to be able to help make a difference in a child's quality of life. Look us up and say hi if you are ever out towards Houston!
