Donnie's Story

My Life I am now retired and do nothing except research and mess with my computer. I added an endorsement (Learning Disabled) for my Master's in Education at William Carey College and started a Ph. D. at The University of Mississippi. I finished my MBA in 2001. I retired from the military in 1988 after 24 years. I am married to a young lady I have known for 55 years Carolyn Branhagen, with four beautiful children 3 girls and 1 boy I have 7 adopted sons and 10 adopted daughters who I love as my birth children. I lost the sight in my left eye. I suffered a small stroke April 14, 2008. I moved back to Waco May 27, 2008. I am now disabled, but can still get around with a walker or cane. If you still live around Waco holler at me and we can get together at Cupp's for a burger and coke, or maybe DiMaria's BBQ or better yet, Poppa Rollo¿s for a pizza. Carol is a school counselor. I always wanted to be a soldier when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a bad idea. As it turns out, they were wrong. I play RTS computer games to blow off steam and to exercise my one eye. My childhood hero was Mickey Mantle as I became and adult my heroes are my children, grandchildren and anyone...Expand for more
in uniform especially Green Beret soldiers. I would like to see Manuel Sustita, Bobby Campos, and Sabino Arusa again because we were friends and neighbors as children. If I could see one of my teachers again it would be Clay Davis. I met Clay Davis at So. Jr. when he was my PE teacher, he later became assistant principal there and later at UHS. Clay always put his students first. While I was a student I did not really appreciate Mr. Davis, but as I matured my senior year. I realized who he really was and what he stood for. When I got my TS clearance he was my first reference as he was for all of my brothers. If I won $100 million, I'd give most of it to my children, family and friends, then spend the rest on Carol, Junior (my dog) and myself. My oldest friend is Charlie Gonzales we were in the first grade together all the way to high school. Later we were in the National Guard where I was his 1st SGT. Charlie, Waymon Gentry and I became blood brothers in the 4th grade. We shared lunches in Jr. High, he always had potted meat sandwiches and I had ham and cheese usually, we traded since potted meat was and still is my favorite. We also put Creamer's potato chips on our sandwiches.
