Dora's Story
Well for all who really wanted to know, this is Dora in a nutshell:
I did 12 years in the Navy (got to E-6 with a lot of medals and certificates that now collect dust in the basement.)
Have 5 children, one girl, four boys, and two grandchildren, YUP, you got that right, I am now a grandma. Heavy on the "Grand".
Been through some rough times, most of it, trying to grow up.
Married now almost 15 years to the man only God could have prepared for me.
Living in the mid west watching the corn grow, and some days cooking that corn up and eating it. It is yummy!
So, what do I do? I am a deaf interpreter at church. (Something I learned when I had some deaf friends). I am a home school mom. I decorate cakes. I serve wherever I can in the church. (Nursery, meal preparations, and the like).
Our family likes to laugh. I love Monopoly (I go for the jugular). Phase 10 and Uno ...Expand for more
are fun as well.
What I remember of being in High School - looking for my friends in the hallway. Saving seats in the cafeteria. Mexican food on Wed. Thinking someone who drove in to school was way "cool" (Thanks Cathy Chapaty for picking me up). Hoping our class was having a film. Hating to fill in the circles of the scholastic testings. Selling Segovia candies for fundraisers. Drooling over the R.O.T.C. guys in uniform (mentally of course ; ) ) Playing tennis until dark almost everyday after school.
I miss being young, true. I hate that I ache when I get out of bed and that the few pounds I need to lose keeps creeping further and further away. But in all that I will not change a thing. The Lord came and changed my life in a way that helped me see that living for others is where I found the best me I could be. Happy and at peace.
