CLASS OF 1983

Doran's Story

Life Graduated in '83. Lived in different cities in the Phoenix metro for the last 9 years. Love my home state! I have many friends and acquaintances here in the valley. Enjoying my life and mostly partied and lived a carefree lifestyle ever since I attended 9th grade at my high school (WRHS). I was a 'C' student. I'm my same height (5'10) and weigh about 160 lbs, I take care of my overall health and make sure I STAY in shape. Have not really found all the jobs I've had exciting (like on a continuous basis). However I am positive that I will start college classes in 2009 or 2010 and get my degree in accounting, ENOUGH of the carefree lifestyle! I still feel young at heart. I'm in no hurry. My motto is: "Life is Long, NOT Short; Savor it, not rush crazily through it". In the meantime I visit my family circle periodically and I like to enjoy a bottle or two of red wine every month and a few glasses of Margarita or Long Island every OTHER month...a rum and coke's cool too! I'm not much of a beer drinker anymore, but when it comes to Sam Adams beer I'm all for it. I have a lot of free time and am excited about my developing future!! I would like to be at a class of 1983 high school reunion whenever it comes around again. I missed by a long shot all the previous ones!! Today is Tuesday May 13, 2008 as I edit my profile. College University college students are so different from high school students and anyone else in general that it gave me a whole NEW perspective about lifestyles and, in a way, living your own life. Being a native Arizonan myself, my roommate was from Texas and he had an older brother attending NAU as a senior and who was already a Kappa Sigma fraternity brother. Within that same week of checking into college and getting my dorm room on the 5th floor my roommate (Kevin) asked if I wanted to go to a party, how could I pass up the offer and the chance to make new friends! After a week of going to the Kapppa Sigma rush parties I was chosen to become a member with their fraternity. Made a lot of friends and acquaintances there with guys and attractive gals, had dorm parties, was free to hang out at the fraternity house anytime (there was ALWAYS a keg of beer there) and chat with the frat brothers and especially the sorority sisters, that year during Thanksgiving week me, my roommate and his older brother went on a 4 da...Expand for more
y hike down to the bottom of the Grand Canyon (it was a blast). Got to know friends in the same dorm and classes. Every weekday night I tried to study!! Every WEEKEND night I always ordered pizza or went to a frat party! From my experience, there are MORE people to party with IN UNIVERSITIES and who have that same passion about partying as you do than any other parties I've been to. Participated in many other fun activities in college with my fraternity from playing flag football and volleyball (with sorority sisters acting as cheerleaders) to getting blindfolded and being dropped off with your frat brothers at night somewhere in the surrounding Flagstaff pine areas (the object of this one was to find your 12 pack of beer on a path and find your way back to the frat house) to playing the Halloween-find-your-sorority-sister-date (the object of the game was to team up with a frat brother, drive around town to the different bars and receive a message from the bartenders for a clue on what to drink, what to do and where to go next, and eventually you'll meet your date for the night at a bar or restaurant after 4 or 5 places of clues), we even entered a group 5K run here in Phoenix during an event and came in 4th place as a centipede! Afterwards we visited friends' homes around the valley and spent the night at the POINTE TAPATIO RESORT, a frat brother knew somebody there and gave us a great deal on the price. What I hated about the fraternity were the hazings. All in all, my college experience at NAU was cool, interesting and kind of disappointing when that college year ended. Now, of course, my idea of college has changed and I have become much wiser. I'm more sophisticated now but I can still party like a wiiiiiiiillllllld man but still be in CONTROL of my faculties and remain as bright as I usually am, I hardly ever slur my speech even after out-drinking anyone and I never get aggressive and hostile! I party to have a good time and enjoy intellectually stimulating conversations, PLUS I never pass out. Although I wasn't picky in college I would like to add one more thing for the record which applies to me now ... I like my drinks STIRRED not SHAKEN. ;) $$$ PS Sorry to anybody who has been trying to send me a msg for me to respond to... I can only reply to messages that have been paid for as I'm not a paid member (yet) myself. :)
