Dorothy's Story
After high school, I worked for Economy Stores. In 1961 I moved to Memphis, TN and went to Data Entry classes and began working for E. L. Bruce for a few years. I moved on to work for Plough, Inc. (renamed Schering-Plough, Inc. and now is Merck, Inc.) where I performed several different jobs. I worked in different areas of the computer department as data entry operator, supervisor, data control, and computer room. I retired in 2003 after 37 years and was talked into taking over Administrative Coordinator of the Retirement Club. I enjoy being at home since I had to work all my life and did not spend a lot of time there. I worship and attend bible classes at Great Oaks Church of Christ. I try to stay in touch with classmates, Donna Sadler (Lucas) and Barbara Via (Dicken).
In the past, I have taken classes in computer, art, staine...Expand for more
d glass, dog training, herb gardening, cooking, candy making, and cake decorating and I am still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up. Sometimes, I wish I had encountered the psychology field so I could attempt to understand what is going on with individuals in our current society.
I was married for about 20 years and then divorced. He past away several years ago. One of my best friends is Janice, who is my ex sister-in-law and became my next door neighbor. I am very fortunate as this is a rare thing after a divorce. My daughter, Desiree passed away 12/31/11. I have a grandson, Tony who lives in Nashville and is a Mechanical Design Engineer and he is the best grandson in the world. .
My mother had a stroke in March 2014 so April 6th, I brought her to live in Tennessee. She passed away on July 11, 2015.
