Doreen's Story
Hello to old friends,
After graduating from Ft. Knox High School in 1974, I moved to Washington state where my dad was assigned, and attended Western Washington U. in Bellingham for a year. I married another Army brat, Mark Stapleton, at Seattle University in 1975. We subsequently traveled all over the States and Europe courtesy of Uncle Sam, spending most of the 1980s in Germany. Our daughter Caitlin was born in Wuerzburg in 1984. Along the way I earned a B.A. in government (Western Kentucky University), an M.A. in international studies (Old Dominion University) and a second master's in curriculum & development (George Mason University). I've worked as a teacher and administrator at high school and college levels, as well as becoming a group facilitator and trainer. Over the years I also did a lot of volunteer work with soldiers and military families.

live in Wintergreen, just outside Charlottesville, Virginia - home to rivers, ski slopes, vineyards & microbreweries, the Appalachian Trail, the Dave Matthews Band, Monticello and the University of Virginia.
Our daughter Caitlin served a summer internship with the State Dept. in D.C. in 2005, the summer between her junior and senior undergrad years. She worked with State again in summer 2007 at the U.S. embassy in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan (she's fluent in Russian). Caitie graduated from UVA in 2006 and UVA law school in May '09- served a law clerkship at the International Court of Justice at the Hague, the Netherlands- and returned to the U.S. in June 2010. She married a UVA Law classmate at Pollak Vineyards in May 2011. They live and work in the greater Washington D.C. area and in October 2014 they gave us a beautiful little granddaughter named Ellie.
As for pets, after saying goodbye to the last in a long line of boxer dogs in late 2012, we downsized. In early 2013 a French bulldog named Phoebe joined our family.
