Doreen's Story
Life
My goodness where to begin...I graduated from Franklin in 1973. I moved to florida the following August and have been here ever since. I am happily married and have been for the last 31 years. Gary and I had 3 children , two boys and a girl. We also have 3 grandchildren strangely enough 2 boys and a girl. Gary and I have a blueberry farm which we have just begun, so far only an acre and a half. We hope to increase as time goes on. Next year (2006) will be our first crop. Not to wish time away but I can't wait. I can't believe that this year will be the big 5-0 for both Gary and myself, wasn't it just yesterday that I was 18? Well I would enjoy hearing from any of the grads that remember me. Please feel free to send a note!
Update....
On June 8th 2006 my youngest son Joshua was shot and killed at the age of 20. It is now January 2007 and it still doesn't feel real to me. My life has taken a turn that I would never have dreamed of and some d...Expand for more
ays it is hard to see the light. Gary and I have had a very tough 7 months but we are still hanging in there and are now in our 33rd year of marriage. I am amazed that he has stayed with me...I am not the same as I was before and am not sure that I ever will be. Thanks for reading this ..love and light to all
Workplace
Most of my working years consisted of standing behind a chair cutting and styling hair...I have owned 3 salons of my own and worked for a couple of shops in my area. After I closed the last shop I became a "home" hairdresser, I would go to those that were homebound and try to make them feel better by making them look better. The last couple of years has been more geared to family...parents, kids and grandkids! Looking to the future, my husband and I have taken a big step by planting a blueberry farm, small to start but hope to grow larger, with many bushes to tend to. This is how we visualize our retirement years. Playing in the dirt!!!
