Doris's Story
I am a Hoosier tried and true. Never lived anywhere other than southern Indiana. After high school I was married for 23 years and raised 3 sons. The boys are grown now, all in their 20's, and I have remarried and I live in Evansville now.
I worked part time so that I could be home with the boys as they grew up. I just retired after 18 years as a special education bus driver. A job that I really enjoyed, it also gave me a schedule that allowed me to have the same days off as my boys.
My husband, Phil, and I have 7 kids between us and 10 grandkids. They are a joy to us!
I am keeping busy with life in general. My husband loves to grill out and we entertain at our house often, mostly the kids!
Phil and I both tend to our elderly parents...Expand for more
and that keeps us busy as well. In addition, Phil tries to play golf about 5 times a week on the couse that we live on. I try to play tennis quite often too, but don't usually manage to get as many tennis days in as Phil gets golfs days! Not that I'm keeping score. I do get into our health club to work out about 5 times a week and don't know what I'd do if I couldn't stay active.
Our dog, Mulligan, a two year old springer spaniel, is also a big part of our lives. She requires a lot of attention and has a lot of energy! I walk her for about an hour every day. I really enjoy the dog walking when the weather is nice and warm, but in the cold weather I really don't care to be out! I prefer 90 degree days to 60 degree days, I love HOT weather.
