Doris's Story
Life
After several secretarial type
positions I went to college to
teach elementary school. And I
loved it! I got to re-learn all
those things I wasn't great at or
didn't like.
Nothing like helping a kid who thinks they can't and turning it
into a can do. The highlights
were teaching kids to work with
clay, paper machie, art projects
and the weekly cake my students
in second grade had to design
with three colors of frostingHello, to all of you Center Avenue
Elementary school students, Morningside High, Monroe Junior High and Westchester Jr. High
School guys and gals.
Must let you know I know many of
my classmates from Center Ave. I was a bit more extroverted then.
By the time I reached Morningside
High School I became quite introverted. Sure glad those days
are over with. So, I don't know
many of you. I fell in love with
the boys in Mrs. Clark's room.
It is true love when your kicking
hitting and chasing after them.
My favorite things were painting
every Friday and the square dancing
plus recess. Jack's on the lunch
table and, of course hot dog day.
and then write a fraction story.
Each week a different group got
to design,write and serve it.
The students and I were doing fraction math with a pizza unit
and since it was Halloween and
I had no costume the kids fashioned
a great big pizza outfit for...Expand for more
me with crust cheese and pepperoni and
I walked in the parade.
My daughter and I entered Kindegarten the same year;I began
teaching in New York City. She's
now 25 soon to be 26. Holly and
I moved back to California and
she would visit her dad every
summer in New York City. He was
a professor and had his summers off too. She is grown and quite
a delight to be around. We survived those awful teen years.
Did you know Ritalin is the same
class of drug as cocaine? So,
don't let your young guys do the
stuff. Nutritional products help
such as Calm, which is a magnesium
drink. Its good for the heart and
those damdable leg cramps. Don't
buy into the Psych. crap. Many
teens sucides are traced back to
the psych drugs given to them.
This is an actual side effect.
Living now here in Florida near
the Tampa Bay area. Its sure
different than L.A.. I like the
lush greenery. I am setting up
a business here, so I plan,
to get into L.A. at least once
a year.
My daughter lives in Florida
too!! No grandkids yet....but
they assure me they want them.
