Dorothy's Story

Life Still living on SI (Annadale). I have two daughters, Lissa, Lori (married with a son Jack)and a son, Larry(29) I have been married for 31 years to Larry Ambrosino, a retired NYC principal and now a superintendent in Shrewsbury, NJ. Retired as principal of P.S. 21 on Staten Island for more than four years, I have found new interests in Yoga, photography and painting. My family runs a local fitness equipment business, Ambro Sports, on Staten Island. My grandson, traveling, gardening, painting and reading are my passions. School I started my school career at P.S. 16 and graduated in 1962. (Then, elementary school went from K-8.) I remember making my own graduation dress at school, and skirts and blouses for May Fetes. hen he was principal at P.S. 4. Then it was on to Curtis H.S. (Class of 66) I lived across the street from Curtis field and was usually late for school. While at Curtis I worked for awhile at the St. George library as a paige and also gave piano lessons. College I graduated from Wagner College with a BS in Education in 1970. I started my student teaching and teaching career at P.S. 31 in February 1970. It was there that I met my husband who did his student teaching with me. I went for my Master's degree at Richmond College (now CSI CUNY)while working as a classroom teacher at P.S. 22. Later I obtained my Six Year Certificate in Administration and Supervision at CSI. I also attended St. John's University and Kean College for course work in special education and became licensed as a special education supervisor, assistant principal and principal.
