Dr. Dorothy's Story

March, 2021 Wow! What a year 2020 was. My condolences to all of you who lost loved ones. My husband, my family, and I have been so fortunate, and we very much know it. As essential workers, Pete and I were out every day watching the world shut down, and then slowly open up again. We were so busy as a direct result of the virus that neither of us were able to take any time off until September - and then he was called in for 2 of those 5 days. This was not a hardship for us nor is this a complaint; rather, it is an example of how hard 2020 was on the people we serve. My patients' anxiety and depression were at understandably, yet extraordinarily, high levels. My beloved niece was one of the wonderful front line workers. I cannot begin to describe how much I admire her and others like her. Hopefully, now with numbers dropping and vaccinations available, we all will be able to find our new normal and begin the healing process. May this note find you well. I wish calming peace upon all of you, Dr. D. November, 2018 Life moves on in wonderful ways! I am leaving The Shores this month so I can concentrate on the group practice that is only 10 minutes from home. Goodbye 4- 5 hour round trip daily commutes to Chicago! Last year's California and South Bend (I so love Studebaker cars!) were so much fun. This year our anniversary was spent as tourists in Chicago doing 2 different architectural tours. Lovely and relaxing. We...Expand for more
are looking forward to the holidays and wish you all happiness and joy. April, 2017 It is now almost a year since our wedding. Life is so great with a man I dearly love and our 2 very large rescue cats, Manny and Dave. We will be going back to California this June for a family reunion and to celebrate Pete's parents' 60th wedding anniversary. Can't wait! 2016 I received my Doctorate in Psychology all the while working full time! I am now teaching doctorate-level students and working with individuals with severe, chronic mental illnesses and/or physical illnesses at a nursing facility on the far north side of Chicago. I joined a private group practice providing individual therapy in Munster 2 days per week and love it. In 2014 my husband of 36+ years passed after many years of being extremely ill. He was an amazing man with whom I shared so much love. I will always treasure those years with him and will always love him. Much to my surprise, I have found love again. Our wedding was July 16, 2016; he is a wonderful man who makes me laugh with joy every day. The wedding was a family affair; my sister (Deb, class of 72) and her husband RIch Page (class of 71) and her kids and grandkids were all in the bridal party as were all of his brothers and one of his nieces, and 2 of my best friends. Also in attendance were my La Rabida Children's Hospital and Sheridan Shores families, including former students. So much fun!
