Dorothy's Story

Life After leaving MBA and PUC, I worked at a variety of jobs, including the media and with developmentally disabled adults, was married for nearly 5 years, and lived in several towns in Northern California before moving to GA in '99 after finding birth family--back to my roots, y'all! I am happily childfree, and single, content that this is God's plan (He hasn't told me otherwise, do you know something different? LOL). After nearly 7 years of living in the beautiful mountains of N. GA on a quiet, wooded acre with my 3 cats for company, my Mom had open heart surgery in 5/06 and I felt God was telling me it was time to be back near my parents (who retired in southern OR), so in June '06 I packed up the house and the cats and drove a 26' Penske truck across the country to this adorable town that doesn't have a single stoplight. God is so good and faithful, and I could have never done it without Him! I have so much to praise Him for. I lived by myself here for 2 years, a few blocks away from their retirement home, and quite suddenly, God's plan revealed itself further and the parents and I moved into a place together just this summer. It's better for all of us financially, and I can keep an eye on them as their dependence increases. (She's 82 and he's 89!) I work as a teacher at Canyonv...Expand for more
ille Christian Academy, (1 block from where I live!) an evangelical Christian boarding school for mostly international students seeking to learn English. I get to teach American History, one of my favorite subjects, and the students are great. I attend Turning Point (SDA) in Roseburg because it has a more contemporary service. My views these days are conservative but not my praising the Lord! That said, I am a big fan of NPR. I love a variety of music including country, jazz and contemporary Christian, (not just disco! whew!!) and one of my favorite hobbies is photography...my dream is to sell my work one day, postcards, prints, something. I'd love to hear from anyone from "the old days"...I get back to MBA every chance I get and am already planning on the 30 year reunion....but I keep wondering how it's possible someone as young as I am could be out of high school for 30 years?! LOL It will always be a special place in my memories. My sincerest apologies to anyone I was less than kind to...I have learned a lot about myself and relationships since then...but that's a story for another time! If you are ever driving along the I-5 corridor in Oregon, please stop and look me up! You'll know the town when you see the Seven Feathers Casino! The school is at Main and 1st. How quaint is that?
