Started life in Panama City, FL., as Dorothy Louise Agnes Carroll, (mom was through having children so had to give me all the names she promised her friends she would name babies after) moved around the south until the middle of the 1st grade where I was moved to Joliet, Mt. without my consent. Being the flexible person I am (and afraid to tell my mother no, besides being too young to have an option of a decision) We moved to Billings where I continued my education until I got married at 17 and was on the road again. During my life I have lived in 14 states and over 70 homes. I quit counting when it got to 70. I was married to husband #1 (yes, there are more) for 16 years and we had 3 daughter's and one son. Janet, Connie, Luke, and Jessica. I was blessed with 5 grandsons and 7 granddaughters, two great grandsons and one great granddaughter. Husband #1 passed away in April 2003. (I had nothing to do with his demise.) 1979, enter husband #2, married 8 years. Most important happening was that he introduced me to Jesus. I will forever be grateful to him for that! Next, of course husband #3. Were were together for over 5 years when that ended. He passed away in March of 2006. (Although I was with him at his passing, I didn't not do that one in either) Husband #4, was a sweet, funny and very loyal guy, but that didn't work out either. I was engaged for a couple of years, which didn't work out. At least we found out before we got hitched. If I could take the extraordinary gifts of each of the men that have been significant in my life in one man, I would be the most blessed woman that ever walked the face of this earth! If you are worried about me having a problem with commitment, I don't. I have a problem of making hasty decisions and regretting them later. I have 11 brothers and sisters of which one brother and three sisters have passed away. I retired from working at the same job for almost 12 years. For those of you that know me this is amazing. That is longer than 3 of my marriages lasted. Before now I haven't even lived in one state, at one time, for that long. I can now say I have lived in the Phoenix area (this time) for 16 years. July 2012, after my retirement, I left Phoenix and traveled into Southern California up the coast into Oregon. I visited some friends that I hadn't seen...Expand for more
for 19 years. It was really great to hook up with them again. From there I went to Olympia, WA to visit my oldest daughter and her family then went to Richland, WA to see my son and his family. I stayed with him for several weeks then went over to Montana and visited my two oldest brothers. While I was there one of my sisters and one of my brothers met me and we went back to Washington and Oregon to see family. After we returned to our oldest brother's we stayed for another week and went into Southern Montana, just outside of Billings and saw a lot of family I haven't seen in a few years. The memories just flooded me and I just felt like I would like to see some of my old schoolmates, but didn't know how to reach anyone. From Montana we went to my sister's who lives in North Dakota for a few weeks. After that point my brother and I traveled down into Wyoming to see a nephew and his family. We then met my brother's son in Aspen and traveled with him back to the Colorado Springs area. I left my brother with his family and drove the rest of the way home by myself. During that time I realized that was the first time I had been alone since I left. When I reached home I had been gone 3 1/2 months. I did take my dog with me, but left my bird with my daughter. I don't know who was happier to see me Connie or Avery. Ha! Ha! I keep looking in the mirror and seeing my mother. Unfortunately she passed away in 1994. I was blessed with 2 dads. My birth dad, I barely knew. He never lived with us and he passed away when I was 16. The dad I had since I was 10 was really my dad. He came to Phoenix a few years ago to be with my younger sister, Roxie, and me. He was such wonderful company but, he passed away in March of 2007. We are now the oldest generation. EEK!! I was informed by my sweet niece that I forgot to say I'm her favorite AZ Aunt. (Of course I'm the only AZ aunt). One time #3 asked me why I acted like I was 15. I told him, because I didn't want to be an old foggy like him. Maybe someday I'll grow up, but right now I'm busy enjoying my life. After I retired I started dying a top section of my hair Purple. I tell everyone it is my "happy hair". Everyone smiles when they look at me. They either are smiling because they like it or think I'm stupid for having purple hair. Either way I get a smile from them. Well, that gives you a really quick overview of my 68+ years. I can't believe I'm that old. The scariest part is what I'll be in just 2 years! I have started writing my book and tell all my stories. I am from an incredible family, have been through a lot and more than anything I've been blessed beyond belief! UPDATE: I have officially RETURNED to Billings as of October 2013. I currently work at Hobby Lobby part time so come on by and say "Hello" After I get all settled in I can get buss writing my book! Take care and God Bless you all! Dotti Carroll Free
