Dorothy's Story
Life
I graduated from Cosmetology school in Mi., and received my license as a Cosmetology Instructor, and a limited license in Macintosh Computers. I also went to a local Junior college for PC computers.
My oldest child and I own a full service Hair/Day Spa Salon that has a staff of 23. I can't remember a time when I didn't want to be a Hair Designer! I now run the salon as Manager/Bookkeeper and buying supplies.
I did hair and won an award in color, cutting and styling with my students as a Cosmetology Instructor.
My husband of 30 years was a fireman at General Motors, Pontiac Mi. He retired Aug 1, 2006 after almost 42 years. He is a great fixer-upper and has already done a lot of improvements in our home, renovating the kitchen, putting in wood floors, redoing the bathroom. We also take walks and ride the Quad-runner on our 10 acres of beautiful woods and trails.
We have 6 children between us. My son Mike is a Pastry Chef and has moved to AZ to work. My oldest daughter Kim works with me at the salon and is a hair designer and Colorist for the John Paul Mitchell Team in Michigan, Illinois and Indiana. My youngest, Tiffany works with Drywall. Chucks children: Tim, works in a local ...Expand for more
Factory, Renay works with horses and Randy puts in golf courses and swimming pools in Mexico and the United States.
We go out to the western states and Idaho every year to vacation and visit family. I have an older brother Mike and a younger sister named Joyce. Our oldest sibling Louise died a few years ago. We miss her very much.
School
I had lots of crushes but no one knew about them. I was kind of shy only when it came to boys. They were my Pals or Buddies but that was it---as far as they knew. My sisters were cheerleaders, and the boys liked them for "girl-friends" and me for just a "friend".
New Updates:
I couldn't go out West this year to visit friends and family because I need Knee Replacement Surgery. First one end of Sept, 09. At first I was shocked and depressed by the news. After a few days in my room, and lots of support from my family and Doctor, I realize I will be Bionic Woman and will be able to run Marathons when I get my new knees!
Two years ago we found out my husband Chuck had Prostate Cancer. Today I am happy to say he is Cancer-free. Thank God he has a physical every year without fail, and we caught it in the early stages before it had a chance to spread! Life is good.
