Dorothy's Story
I'm formerly Dorothy Johnson -- and at the time I was one of the shy, quiet students. I have since come out of my shell by leaps and bounds, having worked in the print media for the past 20-somenting odd years. I graduated from Virginia Union University with B.A. in journalism and eventually wound up at graduate school at Virginia State University.
But before that, I got married and had a son -- of whom I'm so very proud. He works as an investments broker in Bethesda, MD, and he's a wonderful father to his young son.
I currently live in northern Maryland and have worked for a couple major newspapers -- both as an editor and staff writer. I currently write for a newspaper in DC where I cover education and local politics. I also do some national coverage.

ds thought that was a good idea. As it turns out, they were almost right.
I love to read in bed.
If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have all the necessary equipment, a cold Pepsi, and some spicy food to be able to deal with the day-to-day.
My current age is 56. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be so-o-o old. I was so completely wrong.
My best friend would tell you I'm talkative, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as reserved.
I'm pretty much into style but don't shop these days like I used to.
In 10 years, I hope to be retired. I'm going to get there by completing the book I've been writing for years..
My first job was at Richmond City Hall, where I got paid $4 an hour to file paperwork. What I remember most about it is it allowed me a lot of time to think..
