Dorothy "Dottie"'s Story
My Life
I have moved around most of my child hood. Father was in military. Lived on SHAPE base in Belgium in 1967-69 and attended elementary in France during 1966-67 & Belgium 1967-69. Then moved to Acton, Mass from 1969-70, then to Odenton, Md from 1970 - 73, to San Antonio, TX for a few months in 1973 til Nov. I then moved in with my mother in Torrance/Lomita area and attended Fleming Jr. High in 1973-74 (9th grade), summer of 1974 moved to Hokes Bluff, AL until I graduated in 1977.
WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO DOTTIE SINCE HOKES BLUFF HIGH SCHOOL 1977 GRADUATION:
Moved to Boerne, Texas right after graduation to work for my Father at his Sears store. Moved back to Gadsden, AL in Oct. 1978 to be in Regina's Wedding as her Maid of honor. Met Rayford L. Baker and married him on Dec. 29, 1979. Born three children: Holly Elizebeth Baker 1980, Phillip Ray Baker 1981, and Adam Labron Baker 1985. Went to college at Gadsden State Community College and received my A.S. Degree in Computer Science with a minor in Business on June 11, 1989. Divorced Rayford May 6, 1988. Moved to Texas in Oct. 1990. Worked for my father in his H&R Block business and in 1993 moved to Schulenubrg, TX where I own and operate an H&R Block office. I met my current husband Johnny Perales in 1996. We married in Reno, NV in 1999 and honeymooned in Las Vegas, NV.

I will be soon publishing my first set of ancestry books. My goal is to publish 2 books a year on each direct ancestor and their descendants until I have covered every direct surname in my family tree. Ancestry research consumes my free time.
This year I bought another H&R Block Business and between the two offices have consumed much of my free time this year. Hoping next year my promoted employee will be able to run the other office without my part-time supervision.
Plans for the future:
Open 2 more chains of H&R Block business' run by daughter and daughter-in-law once they get the needed training. I don't see myself retiring in the next 15-20 years. I love my work and will continue working as long as my health will permits. I believe when you slow down your end of life speeds up. I want to live to see 100, an age never witnessed by my ancestors.

UPDATE (Jun 2014)
I am now a grandmother of 8. My daughter with 4, my oldest son with 3, and my youngest son with 1. I did publish a CD ancestry book, as I found it too costly to publish a hardcover book. Now I am utilizing technology and all future ancestry books will be on USB thumb drive. We are adding a home to our property and moving my mother into our old home to help with her care and so she can keep her independence. I'm hoping, having two homes on our property will work for me and my husband in our senior years. Both my parents are still living. I have challenged both of them to stay alive for my 5 generation photo.
