Dorothy's Story
I have been living in California since 1984. After h.s. graduation, I went to Loyola in Chicago (B.S. in mathematics), taught high school for 3 years, returned to get an M.S.T. in mathematics at University of Illinois Chicago, then called Circle. I taught for one year at UIC as a mathematics lecturer and then tried actuarial work for a year. After leaving actuarial work, I was a computer education consultant for Scott, Foresman, and Co. I decided I needed a change and moved to the San Francisco bay area and I have been a full time mathematics lecturer at California State University East Bay since 1984. I've also taught part time at community colleges along the way. I got my private pilot's license in 1982 at Midway Airport in Chicago and when I moved to CA, I followed through with an instrument rating, got my Commerical pilot certificate, Certified Flight Instructor ...Expand for more
Instrument and Multi Engine, Airline Transport Pilot certificate and a seaplane rating. I gave flight instruction in the bay area for 20 years until I became fully involved with dog agility. I have had several Shelties and compete with them at the National level in dog agility. I recently completed my training at Animal Behavior College and became a Certified Dog Trainer. I have been teaching dog agility since 2006. I hope to retire from Cal State in a few years and take up dog training full time.
I own a townhouse in the Oakland hills and moved here in 1997 with my first two Shelties, Aileron and Flaps. I now live here with my three Shelties - Cessna 12 yrs old, Piper 7 yrs. old, and Christen Eagle (Christy) 11 weeks old.
If you're ever visiting here in the San Francisco bay area, you can reach me through Cal State University East Bay, mathematics/cs department.
