Dorothy's Story
I'm a graduate of Pacific Christian College, Hope International University (B.S. in Music), University of Southern California (M.S.L.S.), and Purdue University (M.A. and Ph.D., both in English).
I was a librarian for over 25 years, then in 2001 began teaching English on the college level at Purdue University and Ivy Tech Community College in Lafayette, Indiana.
I married Paul McKowen in 1970, and we have two sons: Richard (Rick) and Mark. Both are married, and Rick and his wife have recently adopted a boy and girl who are siblings! We've lived in Lafayette, Indiana, for 38 years. It is a college town and the home of Purdue University. We've enjoyed the size of the community (currently 180,000 in Tippecanoe County) and Purdue football games. It was fun to watch Drew Brees as a college player, and he was able to take Purdue to the Rose Bowl (which we attended) in 2001.
I'll be teaching freshman composition full-time at Purdue during the 2016 fall semester. My husband is now retired, and we hope to do some traveling, especially to escape the Indiana winters.
Ann (Woodson) Laffin, Sharon Dyar-Hopkins, and I have been having our own annual reunions for many years now, and we all attended the HHS Class of 1965's 50th reunion last year.
