Dorrick's Story

Life God has been good to me, all things considered. I live in Fresno and have a seven year-old daughter. She is the joy of my life. I work as a Probation Officer and am a part time instructor at Fresno City College, as well as for the CDCR Correctional Accadamy. I teach Correctional Law and Report Writing. Believe me, nobody is more surprised than me. I am not married and keep very busy with the littel one and work. I represent the department in Court and am considered an expert in California sentencing law. You know, three strikes, and all that. Yep, life is a gas. College I recived my BA in Criminal Justice from Sac State. I then moved to Fresno to work on my graduate degree in Criminology. I began working for the department while I was in school. I kind of got stuck here. I received my MS in Crim, and began to teach. I enjoy teaching most of all, and will do it full time whenever the chance arrives. Right now, I am thinking about a PhD in Crim, since we have a new program here in Fresno that is about to launch. My ...Expand for more
father (remember him?) was instrumental in the forming of that program, and is pushing me to enroll. But at almost 50, I am not real thrilled about going back into school debt. I like what I do, and enjoy my time with Vanessa. I am not getting rich, but my work is very interesting and rewarding. Every now and then, I get a chance to change a life, just like the way mine was changed so many years ago. God works wonders, and He does it through us. Kewl huh? Life is just so full of surprises. Of all the people, huh? The way I figure it though, my life as a stoner has made me a far better officer. I can relate to the probationers on a level other officer can never do, and the probationers know it. I know what it takes to make a change, and the effects it can have on your life. You know, "been there, done that". And I can smell a stoner a mile away. lol Like I said, God has been good to me, and I am forever in His debt. I therefore spend my life making instalments on that debt. That is why I do what I do. Surprised? So am I.
