With my grad photo in the 1963 yesrbook was the statement that I wanted to become a public school music teacher. Well, that is exactly what I am doing today. I am teaching in. Northern B.C. in a K-12 Public School and teaching music for students of all ages from 6-18. However, I did get my musical career started immediately following our graduation. Three days later I was on my way to Nova Scotia for the 7 Year Royal Canadian Navy Bandsman Apprenticeship Plan. In 1970, I returned to Courtenay and was immediately invited to teach music in the public schools there. During this very busy time, I did manage to find my way to attend UBC. As far as I know, I was the only former music student of Tom Pagdin and Al Wedel who did return to Teach music with them. After years of teaching in the elementary schools, I was moved to GP Vanier Secondary School where I worked with Tom and Al there for the next three years. Changes did occur when Highland Secondary School was opened in Comox.
