Doug's Story
I have had two lives, the 1st was with my dearly departed wife Genie; she died in a single car accident 1994 in southern California. I mover to the Skagit Valley after the death of Genie & in 1996 met my 2nd love, a widow also. We both retired in 2003 and in 2004 purchased a 5th wheel large enough to live in and a Ford Super Duty to pull it with. We are still living this wonderful "lifestyle" and have been in all of the lower states but for West Virginia & Nebraska. My "hobby" turned out to be genealogy & family history and that fits in very well with our travels; as it has been for the past 16 years and there is no end to the surprises you find when you reach into the depths of the past.
Between us we have 7 grandchildren, & 2 greats. Our family is scattered, my two sons in Montana, & Carlee's in Japan & Texas and her daughter in Las Vegas. On our longest trip in 2008, we called it our...Expand for more
"Finding Relatives, Living And Dead" trip; loads of fun as well as re-education our selves of the history & the making of this great country.
In December of 2014, after living in our 5th wheel for nearly 10 years, we decided to settle down and purchased a home in Yuma, Arizona; you might ask why Yuma, and I would tell you we were blessed to become a part of a wonderful church community; St John Newmann Roman Catholic Church. Having been active in the sacraments & mass during our travels, we naturally took this parish when we spent our 1st winter and made some great friends.
In 2013, we decided to cease traveling and settled in Yuma, AZ mostly because of the faith community we had wintered with foe several years at St. John Neumann Roman Catholic Church. We purchased manufactured home in the Foothill area about 5 minutes from church and keep busy with church and puttering round home.
