Doug's Story

Doug is a 1965 graduate of Collingswood High. After high school, he did his undergrad at U of P, joined the National Guard, and started graduate school at Columbia in 1971. Leaving Columbia in '73, he continued his Architecture studies at the University of Colorado, finally finishing in 1976. His work experiences include Larimer Square Associates, Denver Urban Renewal Authority, the National Park Service before starting his own firm in 1979, which ran until 2009. n & Construction Division of the National Park Service, and worked there until 2013, when he joined a large residential firm, Godden/Sudik Architects until August 201, when he resumed his private practice, Doug Walter Architects. As of 2020, still working, writing and speaking to conferences and meetings around the US, mainly on lighting and daylighting. Two children, both in Seattle, one grandson, two granddogs! Doug is married, has two grown children and his first grandchild as of August 2014.
