Doug's Story
After High School I went to MJC for a semester. I decided to quit school and make some money for a while, so I could have a little nest egg while I go back to school. Well, that never works.
I worked odd jobs for a while. I went from Taco Bell, to gas station attendant at Gallo, to Moore Business Forms, to Gus' Restaurant. Moore and Gus' are no longer there.
My plans were'nt working out and my room mates kicked me out of the house I was living in, so I moved back in with my parents at 20 years old. I was crushed. I decided to join the US Air Force. That was an incredible adventure.
I met my wife Kristi while I was there. We were married in a German Court House (Rathaus). We had a son in June of '90 and ...Expand for more
she got out of the Army and both left back to the states in December before the war started.
I stayed in Germany for 4 1/2 years. I was there during Desert Storm. I stayed in Germany the whole time during the War. I was the next moblile unit to be sent to the Desert and then the war ended in February. I didn't make it home until June after my son's (Bret) first birthday.
I struggled for a year before I got a job at Stanislaus County Sheriffs Dept. as a Jail Deputy. My wife and I had a daughter (Kaitlyn) in Oct of 1994. I am currently a Sergeant at the Jail, my son is going to be 18 in June of 2008 and my daugher is 13. My son is graduating from Davis this year and my daughter will be going to Beyer next year.
