Doug's Story
Life
I remember thinking as a kid that If I made it to 40 then I did something right, well here I am turning 42...........
The older I got, the more I realized how little I knew when I knew it all.
I do enjoy my age, I finally quit sm and look forward to whatever this burrowed time I'm on, has yet to offer.
Lets see, I was once married and subsequently divorced, from that I received a fantastic son "Shawn Douglas - 12" (Shawn lives in North Bay) a few good memories and the rest resulted in lessons learned......lol. I've had a whole life filled with failed relationships, there has been at least a dozen since High School......
However, I wouldn't change a thing - I love woman.
So here I am today, yet in another relationship with Lee, a hot 38 year old divorced cougar of 2.
We've been with each other for about 3 years, wow, almost a record...............just kiddin
She works out with me at the gym and that's cool
Currently I think the average relationship is about 7 years,
so I figure I have at least 4 more, so I'm making them the best possible....
I not so sure that man and woman were actually intended to live together.
Wasn't it better when we just all hung out in a tribe, had our own beds when we were done,
we hunted and gathered?
I rent this cool bachelor pad on top of this old house
Inside Its decorated somewhat like the guy on 40 Year Old Virgin,
Outside this green ivy shades the balcony. Full southern exposure - nice to catch rays
I had graduated from college and achieved academic excellence.
My whol...Expand for more
e life I was c+ student, and finally one day, I was the guy that people were coming to for help.
That's was a first
The MNR was hiring in 1988 and canvassed the school. I made it on the top 10 list, they gave me a call and I excepted.
I landed the best job in the world for me
I start work at 11:30 - 8. I love it.....
I head up a fire crew on a daily basis and we are dispatched at anytime, mostly without notice to anywhere within North America fighting wild fires, and other disasters.
I'm certified to do almost anything in fire, so work provides me with enough challenges - It can get really busy fast in our line of work...
1 lighting storm can leave us chasing fires of different complexities for weeks, and that's just one storm
Check this out - last year I worked 19 days straight - 4 times in a row with only 2 days in-between....That's 76 days working with 8 days off.
worked 500 hours OT last summer, the same in 2005,2004, little less in 2003........mostly due to global warming
So what I do see of summer, I see through work...and that's cool as we mostly fly in helicopters,
Since I make about $50,000/year, I'm forced to retire for 6 months each year.....
My father once told me (on his death bed) to never work in a factory or shift work
and never worry about time and money, because even in our end those 2 constants will always be there
So, I've excepted that I'll never be rich,
I'll always have an abundance of free time doing what I have chosen to do....
I wish that I can tell him ..... "see, I listened"
