Doug's Story
Life
My Spouse
Gretchen sang in the Choir at Pacific Lutheran University, and we actually met when some of the choir members stayed with my parents in Fremont and I decided to come home for that weekend.I 3 years we never met on campus, so it had to be Fremont! She currently works in the underwriters office at United Health Care in Cypress, CA.
My Kids
Erika ( A '00 grad at Long Beach State)is married and works at Union Bank of California at the Irvine Loan Center. She just had our first Grandson, Jack. in April '10
Michael graduated from California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, CA, with a degree in Sports Medicine. Presently he works at the Disneyland Resorts..
My Job
Since Transportation deregulation in 1980, the last 20 years have been pretty crazy. I was a Logistics specialist at General Motors for 3 years, at Traffic Analyst for ASARCO in SF for 2 years, a Transportation Manager for Kransco (better known as Wham-O,Morey Boogie Bodyboards,Power Wheels, Swimways Pool Products, and HydroSlide Kneeboards)in SF for 10 years...which was bought by Mattel Toys and moved to El Segundo(us in tow), and I've been sold for several carriers for 4 years, here in the Long Beach area. Recently I've been on disability because of a number of problems. I just came off of 8 mos in a full leg cast because I had a triple compound break in my right ankle. Now it has 11 pins, screws and a metal plate in it.......fun..........and 2 metal hips! In Feb. '10 I had gastric bypass surgery. As of Nov,11 I have lost 125# so far

eys failed because of 50+ kidney stones. I have started dialsys 3 dqys a week. It shouldn't slow me down. I'm still flying once a month up to FREAKMONT, and am a board member on the WHS Alumni Foundation Board. I still have relatives in Morgan Hill, sdo that kieeps me busy..
My School
Washington High School was Washington High School. I remember it for the special things. There was the start of Acid Alley, behind the Science building, the "Rah-Rah" tables in the patio. I JUST tossed a pair of Levis that I used to paint the Student Store, pumpkin orange...what a mess! Great days when "Home of the Huskies" on the school sign was changed to "Hussies". Closed campus at lunch, and NOW the schools are going back to closed campuses. Who couldn't forget Husky Burgers, heh? Or the night a group of people that went over to Mission and cut down the totem pole after we lost the '69 basketball playoff game at Kennedy? Do you remember when a different group of people decided to paint the GIANT "joint" on the theatre wall in the patio? Or when Doc C. would make the girls kneel to see if their dresses were too short? Or the censored '68 yearbook?
I was lucky to go to college at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington with Jim Holland '69, Lorene Haas '73 and my Sister Eleanor '74. We all had a GREAT time there too.
Let's answer the questions.... biggest crush...Connie Nobis, inspired teacher...Jim Brower, but Bob Benning was a close second.....if I would do it all over again......yes, but I would tweak it a bit.....memories are listed above.
