Douglas's Story
Life
After CHS I went to the U of D and
graduated in 1975. I hadn't a clue
what I wanted to do, so I went on to
get a Master's degree at American U.
(D.C.) in Counseling Psychology. Being
a student was all I really knew. After
getting that done in 1977, I worked for
a year and moved to Texas in 1978 to
get my Ph.D. I was out celebrating
completion of all of my course work in
1981, with plans to leave Texas
forever, and met my wife-to-be that
night. We dated for 6 weeks and got
married before I left town. The most
impulsive thing either of us have ever

ars later she is still my
best friend. The kids are now 21
(Emily) and 18 (Sam). I am incredibly
fortunate. I no longer practice
psychology, and instead work with trial
lawyers conducting pre-trial research,
planning trial strategy and picking
juries. Extremely interesting. I have
lived in Austin since Sally and I
returned following my internship in
Washington, in 1982. We will likely
stay here, although we fantasize about
moving north every summer during the
annual heat wave. I still have family
in Newark and Philly, so I make it up
that way about once a year.
