Douglas's Story

Life Thank you for visiting my bio site. Please see my latest photos. There are some messages for you. Looking back at a life full of cherished memories of raising a family, the love and companionship of a dear sweet loving wife who stayed with me as my gift for 38 years, and the outstanding moments we shared with all the other great highlights of one's life, makes me very proud to say that I have been blessed with a wonderful life. Now my life has taken a different journey with the passing of my dear Cheryl. Time to get back to the beach, the ocean, the surf. As an artist, designer and engineer I have the tools to create artistic design elements inspired by nature.Wind, water, light, earth, and the creatures of this earth, these present me with the elements of design and creativity to produce artistic pieces of my choosing. This now, is my legacy. To blend with nature and to use those gifts so wonderfully pointed out to me by my Art teacher Marilyn Steel, so many years ago at North High School. After more than 5 years I am still adjusting as a widower. Love and companionship is not something we should take for granted. Appreciate those that touch your life in so many different and special ways. And enjoy the ride. When one door closes, another will open....it is life's way. When times get tough, seek nature. Enjoy a flower, watch a cloud, sit and enjoy the ocean, or watch the eyes of a child as they learn about the earth. As seniors, we have all exper...Expand for more
ienced the trials of a fast paced material world. Now we need to see what we missed. Love the journey, and enjoy each morning light that guides you down the road to your future destiny When I'm not painting brush strokes on the ocean's waves with my surfboard, I will be creating new art pieces in my newly constructed studio. This studio is a place where I can design, as well as enjoying my seperate workshop to build the design. I love integrating my photos of Nature into my designs. I try to stay in touch with friends from North and enjoy hearing about their life journey, and the funny and informative emails they send. To all classmates visiting my bio, I wish you a long happy life, fulfilled with all of those special moments, we as seniors can only appreciate. Up dated 2-17-09..please see my updated photo's with some of my latest art pieces. I will be showing at art fairs and some galleries. This is really exciting for me because I can combine art, light and nature in each seperate piece. Backlighting a horse, frog, lizard, waves, anything that can be photographed can be backlighted in these artistic shapes. I try to use recycled wood whenever possible and only offer compact fluorescent lamps as the light source because they produce very little heat, consume just a little energy, and last years. It's raining today and I've updated a few of my photos...Please take the time to look at them...They will make you feel good. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST

This piece stands about 30 " Tall. An old railroad tie, maybe 90 years old...I sometimes wonder about the tree that it came from...So I try to honor the "Spirit" of that once living life cell.
