Douglas's Story
Before I moved from Cahokia I worked in St Louis at a Foundry called Wagner, I was always messing around with Cars. Alot people remember a 1969 Dodge Cornet R/T that was Yellow with a Black Strip around the back of the Car. It was my 1st new car and bought it from Lou Brock Dealer Ship in East St. Louis right before I got out of the Marine Corps, I was Medvac'ed back from Vietnam, I was discharged from the Marines in Oct of 1969. I bought the R/T in May of 69. It seems Cars are still my thing and like restoreing them, at present I have a C-3 Corvette its a 1981 and also have a Custom C-4 Corvette and is a 1985 with a 1991 Front End on this Car. Well anyway I moved to AZ in 1986 and have taken Roots here as I love the Weather out here, Went to work for another Foundry In Tempe AZ & Chandler AZ that were owned by the Company I went to work for, I hired in as a Maintenance Super Visior and did alot of Training of Maintainance Machanics for the 2 Foundries. I now am retired as my Knees have gave out on me, my left leg & knee was hit and messed up in Vietnam and my right Knee got messed up at the Chandler Foundry here in AZ with 1,800 lbs falling on it and pinned Me down for an Hour & 45 min before anyone found me, but Im retired now and keep busy on My 2 Vettes, I am pres...Expand for more
ently looking for a C-5 Corvette and will have what is known as a Poor Mans Corvette Collection as the C-1 & C-2s are very Pricey and the C-6 & C-7s are out of my range at this time. I sure think alot about the old times in Cahokia, and alot of my Old friends back there have moved on to see the Lord, only hope they have changed in their old ways as we sure weren't walking the Straight Line back then. I have turned my life around for the better since moving out here to AZ. The Lord has truly Blessed me & my Family here in AZ. We are planning to sell the House that we have now and Down Size as it is a chore to keep up with and keeping it clean, its 6 Bed Rooms, 3 full Baths, Formal Dinning Room, Formal Living Room, Family Room, Kitchen & Eating Area, aloft Up-Stairs that Ive made into a Home Office, a Large Game Room and One Walk-Out Balcony over seeing our Swimming Pool and a good size 3 Car Garage with a Drive-Way that can have 5 Cars parked in it. The House is 3,600 sq feet so you can see when you start cleaning this place it takes some time. Well I guess thats all for now, but I think about Cahokia all the Time. Can someone tell Me is Tim Happy still alive? just woundering. also Im trying to get a hold of Doug & Vicky Lawerance?? So talk at you all later, Doug Maier
