Life After 8 1/2 years in the US Army, I worked many different and interesting jobs, until 1998.I live in a very small logging community, in Washington, called Matlock. It has a General Store/Post Office, 2 gas/deisel pumps, 2 churches, a grange hall, a volunteer fire department, and a K-12 school with less than 200 students. I have a house on almost 5 acres, next to a protected elk herds birthing ground. They, about 50 of them, graze on my property and around my house several times a year. I am 100% disabled, and get paid by the Veterans Administration and Social Security. School Learned more from a small North Albany Grade School, and Albany Union High, than kids learn today. We are now a society of "dumbed down individuals", thanks to government experiments in education. I am very thankful that I had great teachers. I feel very sorry for the ones that came, after the middle to late '60's, and received a sub-standard education. It's alarming to watch these people in the news, etc., and see them unable to speak proper English, read, write, and do math. Forget about history!
