When I returned to the US I began a 7-year stint in the trades as a carpenter and small business owner. In 1978 I married my high school sweetheart Debbie (She went to Waukegan High School). In 1981 I returned to school and began a transition to a new career in Information Technology that has now spanned nearly 30 years. In the early years I worked for a variety of companies. In 1983 I launched a successful IT consulting business that I operated for nearly 18 years. In 1982 our son Ryan was born and in 1985 our daughter Diana was born. In 2000 I joined Abbott Laboratories. At Abbott I have held various IT management roles. Throughout my professional life I have also been very involved leading in my local church. These experiences span 26 years and include leading a 100+ year-old church from the brink of extinction to new growth and vitality. This process was both excruciating and exhilarating. Along the way I have launched numerous specific ministries and held key roles in four capital campaigns. ...Expand for more
On this foundation of experience, along with professional training and my own personal study, I launched a ministry coaching and consulting practice in 2005. I live by the belief and philosophy that every church or ministry can be fruitful regardless of their circumstances. I have had the privilege of serving churches, schools and ministries in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Kenya the Philippines and most recently Vietnam. I am still employed at Abbott but ministry coaching and consulting is my passion. I look forward to the day when I will be operating in my area passion full time. In 2004 our son Ryan married Megan. These two just presented us with our first grand children. Yes I said grand children. Megan delivered triplet girls in February 2009. They are in order of birth, Rogue, Jade and Phoenix. Since they live in the area we are able to spoil the little girls appropriately. Ryan is a stay at home dad for now and a tattoo artist (Got Ink?). Megan is an intensive care nurse at Chicago area hospital. In December of 2008 our daughter Diana married Nate on a beach in the Bahamas. It was a simple and beautiful wedding. (What daddy won't do to make his little girl's dreams come true) Married life seems to agree with them and they live close enough to visit often on weekends. Diana earned a bachelors degree in chemistry and English Literature and completed her masters in forensic chemistry in 2008. She now works for the Illinois State Police in their Chicago crime lab. This is her dream job! Nate completed his teaching certification in May of 2009 and is teaching second grade in a northern suburb. Life has been both full and rich. We feel blessed beyond measure even as we navigate the new and untested waters of caring for two sets of aging parents, trying to parent, in appropriate ways, our adult children and now the new role as grandparents. God and life are good, very good.".
