Douglas's Story
No longer have to deal with the work-a-day world. My "body clock" has always been set to "night owl" and I'm no longer a slave to an alarm clock. I have no trouble staying busy in retirement !
No ball sports or fighting. Watch motorsports on TV or local tracks. Forget reality TV, I pay attention to progressive politics, good documentaries, occasionally a movie.
I've chosen to remain child-free, absolutely no regrets.
If I won $100 million, I'd give 25% of it to environmental, animal welfare, progressive politics, and Planned Parenthood charities, then spend the rest on family, friends, sportbike motorcycles and auto racing.
Never a dorm or fraternity at college, I'm too independent. Always lived in houses never an apt.
My current age is 71, and have been retired now for 3 1/2 years after 30+ years with the US Forest Service. Retirement ROCKS !. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be grandparents. I was so completely naive.
I work to live. I do not live to work. <THIS NO ...Expand for more
LONGER APPLIES !
My best friend would tell you I'm very independent, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as quiet.
Not into style. I wear Levis and T-shirts or flannel.
I share my home with a cat , which I find good company. Just a few years ago, I lost my 2nd wife to health problems. Probably won't remarry but need to find good woman to share life with..
In 10 years, I hope to be alive. I'm going to get there by staying active and eating well..
Catch great area rock/blues musicians in bands or jam sessions at local clubs. I'm told that I dance very well, even by much younger ladies. I have no interest in karaoke or club DJs.
Sure glad I left California in '76 for north Idaho. I only miss the beach. Here there are hills or small mountains to the north, south, and east of evergreen forests. Likely I only encounter anything resembling a traffic jam about once a year while seeking entertainment or services in Spokane, Wash. (25 miles to the west on Interstate 90)
