Drae's Story
Life
Hello to all!!!!
I was raised in Roswell and graduated from Robert H. Goddard a year earlier than my friends. I was tired of school so I took summer school every summer and was able to have enough school credits to graduate after finishing my Junior year. I was offered a four year ROTC Scholarship but...
...turned it down because I was in so much love with a young lady (had been my girlfriend off and on from second grade). Her father was a police officer that I respected so very much. Do you get the picture of what I had on my mind? No not the girl, well, okay, she was part of it. Well, instead of being a city or county police officer, I wanted to serve my country and be a police officer so I JOINED THE UNITED STATES ARMY as an enlisted soldier.
Well, I spent the next half of my life serving my country. I have been everywhere, seen everything, and done everything. I finally retired from the Army, settled down in Georgia, and started a new career with a major airline. Boy what a great bunch of people!
Well, Delta didn't last long! Eight years and that was that! Pay and benefit reductions caused me to move on.
I now work for a Satellite Company in Duluth, Georgia. I am the Security and Safety Representative for the whole East Coast. Now this was a good move!! I think I found the place I want to stay for as many years as I can.
Do you know me? If you do, please contact me! If you don't, contact me anyway!

Now let me add some info that you may not know about me:
I was born May 7 in the wonderful city of Marseille, France. Sadly, my mother passed away as I was born and my father killed in a motorcycle accident in Marseille. I ended up in an or...Expand for more
phanage there in Marseille. A wonderful three-story building with openings for windows (no glass, just curtains) and my bed was a 1-inch thick mattress on the floor. To this day, I still have dreams of that place.
After numerous years, a couple in America had gone to a Methodist Adoption Agency in Waco, Texas, looking to adopt a boy between three and five. The boy had to be either English, German, or French. The Frenchman was chosen, so I was adopted. The orphanage placed me on a ship in Marseille and I began my move to America. My adventure did not last long though; it was interrupted by mechanical problems so I went back to Marseille. The orphanage now put me on an airplane and I flew from Marseille to Paris and then on to America.
My new family picked me up in Waco, Texas. After the airport arrival, we then went on to El Paso, Texas.
I lived in El Paso for a while and then moved to Highrolls, New Mexico, where I went to first grade. I remember this real well because during this time is when I got my first kiss from a girl and it was the same year that John F. Kennedy was assassinated. After first grade, we moved to Roswell, New Mexico, where I lived for the next 12 years.
Okay, I am adopted, so what do I know about myself? Not much! Since turning 52 now, I am very interrested in knowing who I was before I was adopted. I know some informtion, such as what I wrote above, but what is the rest of the story? Well, I have now asked the 120th District Court in El Paso to release my adoption records. Still waiting for that but I have found out one great thing about me, I now know what my name was before I was adopted, "Richard Allen Berry"!!!! Cool! I also found out the date I was actually adopted on 15 May 1959. This means I was 3 years old when I came to the US. Cool again!
Okay, this is all I know till I get to see my complete adoption record. When I do find out more I will write more here.
