Dwayne's Story

Life Joined the Air Force in 1982, and have traveled to many countries. Highlights: Learning to fly a sailplane in the UK; saw the wall come down in Germany; the fall of the Soviet Union; and seeing Asia. Life Mark II Retired from the Air Force after 26 years, went on a one-year motorcycle trip on my 1976 GL1000 GoldWing, that ended after about six months when I met Mrs Right, Danita Marcum. I now have a new job repairing and testing microwave communications equipment. We both ride motorcycles, together or on our own bikes. She has a 1982 GL1...Expand for more
100I GoldWing Interstate and a 2003 Yamaha 650 V-Star Silverado Classic. We are members of GWRRA and ride with our local chapter when we can, and go on trips together. Danita has taught me how to Scuba Dive, helping me overcome my fear of water and inability to swim. I as always fascinated by the Jacque Cousteau programs, and always wanted to see the undersea world myself. We plan on marrying in April 2011, and going on a diving honeymoon in the Caribbean. Once we retire from our second careers, we plan on traveling the world on new GoldWings.

Exhaust, side covers, and rear turn signals replaced; and has a working centerstand
Soon, the center stand was installed and working; maintenance should be much easier now
This worked very well
I had to use the cargo strap to stretch the spring, to line up the mounting bolts
Replaced damaged aftermarket exhaust with OEM dual exhaust; this also meant I could reinstall a centerstand that worked when the exhaust is installed
Need to install rear turn signals, exhaust, and side covers
Seat lines up well, as do the fender and tail light
Reattached wiring harnesses, and tested lights
Fender hinge bracket, front plastic fender, rear fender, grab bar, and back rest reinstalled; frame repainted where heated and bent
Fender hinge bracket used to make sure alignment is correct
Bent back in to alignment; I tempered the tubing after getting aligned
I will have to heat and bend the tubes back down
The repairs begin...exhaust bent out and straightened some
Motor runs, gearbox works, and no damage to driveshaft or final gear
Fender removed; the only real damage was to seat & fender mounting frame extensions
