Dwayne's Story
After high school, I worked for a few years before I started college. I started my college at Texarkana College in 1970, and then later transferred to ETSU- Commerce where I received B.S. with a double major in biology and chemistry and a minor in secondary education. With this degree, I began a teaching career at DeKalb High teaching chemistry and general science. I continued to work toward a Masters degree which I completed in 1978. During this time I also fell in love with Carolyn Calvit from DeKalb (class of '74) and we married in 1976. ...Expand for more
A big move came about in 1980 when I was accepted to Baylor College of Dentistry. We moved to Dallas and I spent the next four years working on a doctorate degree. In 1984 I graduated, Carolyn and I had a son(Matthew), and we moved to Tyler, where I started a new Dental Office. In 1988, we added to our family with another son(Jonathan). We continue to live in Tyler, where I still practice dentistry. However, now both of our sons attend The University of Texas where Matthew is a pre-med major and Jonathan is majoring in mechanical engineering.
