E's Story

Greetings to all, and here's a thumbnail version of the past nearly 35 years.....wow how time flies !!! After my relatively uneventful high school career ended in '74, I tried my hand, unsuccessfully I might add, with college at Southern Ct State Univ. That lasted all of a semester when dad said you're having too much fun(bad grades) come on home. I then worked at Seaside Regional Ctr with the mentally handicapped from '75 until '80. During that time frame I was able to fufill some of my lifelong dream to play baseball when I played several years with the semi-pro team, The New London Vagabonds. I also attended Mitchell Jr College from '78-80, and played baseball there as well. During this time I came to the realization that my time and progress at Seaside, and with the State of Ct, was going to be curtailed, with no degree, and made the decision to join the US Air Force. In Sept of '80 I shipped off to San Antonio, TX for basic training. I was then sent to Pensacola, FL for training as a morse code copier,(Cryptologic Technician in military terms). During my 6 or so months in training I met a gal from Vernon CT, Robin Tierney and a romance began. We were able to continue the romance when she had her orders to England changed to coincide with my orders to San Vito, Italy. We arrived in San Vito in March of '81, and in July of '81 we were married in an Italian ceremony. Some may think how romantic...not really as it was downtown with an Italian justice of the peace. Long story there not enough time. Robin and I expected a baby to be born in December of '82, and in October of '82 we transferred to Dyess AFB in Abilene, TX. Aaron was born in Abilene on Dec 16th. We bought a home in Abilene but due to some military issues, (Joint spouse) out of our control, we made the decision to leave the military and return to CT in '84. We decided to settle in Southeastern CT. I became employed with the Town of Grot...Expand for more
on Police Dept in May of '85 and worked there until November of '08. On June 10th of '86 our 2nd child, Adrienne was born and in Sept of '87 we bought a home in Uncasville, CT. On Dec 5th of '91 our 3rd and final child, Marissa was born, at which time Robin began to run a daycare facility at our home until October of '08. Just to reference back to our "not so romantic marriage" Robin and I renewed our vows in a beautiful church ceremony on our 20th anniversary. On Nov 2nd of '08 I retired from the PD and on the 19th of Nov I began work as a Tribal Police Officer at the Mohegan Sun Casino, 5 minutes from the home. From the time that we were in CT we traveled as a family extensively, cruises, timeshares, Olympics, etc. Aaron is now 25, and married for the past 2 years. Aaron studied Electrical Engineering at the US Coast Guard Academy but found out he is not interested in the corporate life style and is trying to be a self-made man, and I feel he will be successful. Adrienne, who is now 22, lives in Jupiter FL, and attends FL Atlantic Univ and at this time is about a year from graduation. Additionally, Adrienne, and her boyfriend, have advised us that we are going to be grandparents with the due date Dec 22nd. Although not the preferred order of events, we are excited about the expected addition to the family. Marissa is now 16, and will be a senior at Montville High in the fall. Marissa has indicated she wants to attend college in Calif. Marissa is exceptionally talented as a singer, and we hope she continues to refine her skills. I would have to say that life to this point has been great for me, made so because of an awesome family, and very good friends. We did loose both of my in-laws in '95 and my brother tragically in '01, but my family, (mother, father and sisters), is still in tact. My brother and sisters in law are all great people who I do cherish. Tks to all who take the time ro read this.
