Ed's Story
Life
After a tour in the Marine Corps as a Communications Center Chief (Crypto/Top Secret stuff), I married Jenny LeGrand ('66 Two Rivers graduate). This year (2010) we've been married for 41 wonderful years. When I got out of the Service, I was hired by Col. Harland Sanders for my first "real" job as a Draftsman/Designer. Talk about exciting! I was selected to set up restaurants for him in Australia, Japan, New Zeland, and Hawaii. Using my photography hobby, I personally shot the food pictures for the KFC stores; you'll see many of them still being used to this day. The last year I was with KFC I redesigned their "image"... moving from the huge red/white pagoda roof to the more subtle image they now have. (They had over 5,000 restaurants at that time, so it was a great architectural challenge.) I've been in Marketing and Advertising for over 20 years, and at one time owned one of the largest Advertising Agencies (Carpenter, Dotson, & Tucker) in northwestern Florida; we wer...Expand for more
e awarded 3 national and 1 local "Addies" (the "Oscar" of Advertising). Jenny and I moved into our home on the Gulf of Mexico in '78... just in time for Hurricane Frederick to hit Pensacola (our home) dead on. Jenny has been an Ophthalmic Surgical Nurse for the past 28 years (doing the new Lasik Laser Surgery now). Currently, I am a Program Manager for the Dept. of Defense, working for Admiral Craine, the Chief of all Naval Education & Training (CNET). I am responsible for Navy Instructor schools in Seattle, San Diego, Newport RI, Pearl Harbor Hawaii, Yokosuka Japan, Orlando, Chicago, Washington DC, and Pensacola. For fun, I'm a professional Magician (past President of the local chapters of SAM - the Society of American Magicians, and IBM - the International Brotherhood of Magicians. I'm also a Ventriloquist and I enjoy photography and designing websites. As a Shriner and a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, in my spare time I help work with burned and handicapped children.
