Ed's Story
Life
Graduated Rice University 1963, Vietnam duty USS Hollister (destroyer) until 1965, married Mary Samstag in California, then served Military Sealift Command in Philippines until 1967. Joined IBM 1967 & retired 2002 after many different jobs, ending as worldwide consulting operations manager. While in IBM, continued parallel service in US Navy Reserve, mostly European NATO and Korean wargames, & intelligence operatkons, retired as Captain 1989. Lived in Philippines, Dallas, California, Houston, Connecticut, San Antonio, Japan, Australia & currently in Atlanta. Toured all 7 continents, cruised all 7 oceans, 147 countries and 33 cruises.
IBM Corporation jobs among other things were marketing representative, systems engineering, installing first grocery scanning systems, artificial intelligence, industry segment development coordinator, national technical operations manager, software program manager, customer center manager, worldwide consulting operations manager, presentations at conventions and conferences in 12 countries.
